VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR UNIVERSITY OF KARACHI

The Government of Sindh invites applications from renowned academicians, accomplished and motivated academic leaders, and dynamic professionals with strong managerial and financial leadership skills for the position of Vice Chancellor, University of Karachi.

Eligibility Criteria:

(1) The Vice Chancellor of the University shall be appointed by the Chief Minister on the recommendations of the Search Committee, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of Search Committee Act, 2022, for a period of four years, which may be extendable for one more additional term of four years on such terms and conditions as the Chief Minister may determine, and shall possesses the professional or academic qualification, experience and age as follows:

(a) Category-1

An eminent academician and is qualified to be a full Professor, having Ph.D from recognized HEC University / Institute in relevant field, minimum having 20 years' experience including 10 years administrative, financial, academic experience on the position(s) of Vice Chancellor/ Rector/President/ Pro Vice Chancellor/Dean/Chairman/Registrar/Principal in any University / Degree Awarding Institute/ College OR BPS-17 & above or equivalent in Public Sector or reputable National International Private Organization; or

(b) Category-2

A cadre officer of BPS-21 or above (PAS/Ex-PCS/PSS/PMS), having Master's Degree from HEC recognized university or institute. The cadre officer applying on the basis of his experience in civil service upon selection as Vice Chancellor will have to resign or seek retirement from his respective cadre service, as the case may be; or

(c) Category-3

The candidate having Master's degree preferably Ph.D. in the relevant field and having 15 years' experience in academia/intelligentsia or civil society, research or management leadership position and possess distinguish research and publication record (At least 10 publications in HEC recognized Journals).

(2) Age:

The candidates shall not be more than sixty-two (62) years of age on the last date of applying for the post of Vice Chancellor

Responsibilities of Vice Chancellor

To Promote quality education.

To promote research and development projects.

To establish National and International linkages within industrial and renowned institutions.

To plan sustainable business model.

Data gathering and analysis of various industrial sectors for research to be applied in policy making Job Skills:

The incumbent shall have analytical and critical thinking skills, exceptional written, spoken and presentation skills. Strong ability to collect, differentiate and analyze quantitative and qualitative data as well as understanding on financial matters and budget mechanism.

General Conditions

The candidate must indicate the relevant category of eligibility under which he is applying for. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews.

No TA/DA will be provided for the interview.

The Government reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process at any stage.

Interested candidates should send their detailed CV clearly highlighting all elements of eligibility criteria & personal attributes. It should start with the title of the SSC/O-Level, Grades, the name of the Institute/ College and the University, a recent photograph, and attested copies of testimonials within 15 days of publication, clearly mentioning the position and category on the envelope.
